Immersive 3D-Virtual World for Schools

3D-Virtual worlds offer a new way for groups of people to interact, exchange information, and conduct business over the Web. These environments also create new business opportunities, providing a place for customers to socialize, collaborate, play, train, and purchase goods.

Several education institutions has adopted the technology and started building virtual learning environments.  These include virtual worlds created by Boston College (Mass.), the University of Essex (U.K.), the University of Oregon and Saint Paul College (Minn.).

Educational use virtual worlds are being used in e-education for collaboration groups between students. For research team work as all the members can share in a common virtual environment, documents electronic books, slides, video and even commonly use a whiteboard. As well as discuss one on one or as a group.

Getting Started on 3D Virtual World for Schools using Project Wonderland

Lectures where material can be displayed in real-time as video, slides, spreadsheets PDF documents and a lecturer broadcasts to the body of students., Students can raise questions which can be heard by all the assembled and answered or a student can illustrate on a slide or board in real time.

Infocomm Clubs Programme for Schools

Open Systems Innovation Pte Ltd is an IDA Infocomm Clubs Programme training partner for Sun Microsystems Inc. We offer Immersive 3D Virtual World training for Primary, Secondary Schools and Junior Colleges based on our customized curriculum for students. Our courses aim to teach and enthuse students to work in the 3D Virtual Worlds space with open source development tools such as Sketch-up and Blender.

The training programme drawn up for the IDA Infocomms Club is based on a progressive curriculum which allows students to build on their skills each year. Each year, the new students will be trained Starting from Year1.
